Mala Making workshop

Who:

Anyone 15+ who is interested in creating a mala. If this type of craft is calling to you, you are welcome. No previous beading or craft experience required. No previous meditation experience required. Just an open mind and a willingness to learn and try new things. Tools will be provided. Minimum of 4 participants, maximum of 16 participants.

Workshop Description:

Join us for a fun and relaxed workshop about malas and learn how to make one yourself! We will discuss what a mala is and how to use it, whether for the traditional purpose of keeping count of mantra in meditation, or to set intentions, support daily mindfulness, and incorporate the healing energy of certain gemstones into your life. We will be creating a full 108-bead mala, tying knots between each bead. You will learn how to design, string/knot, and finish off your mala. You’ll leave the workshop with a completed piece, ready for use by you or someone you love. If time allows, we will end the workshop with an intention setting practice and a brief meditation to put your new mala to use. All materials and supplies needed for this project will be provided for you. Snacks and refreshments will also be provided for you. Please let us know if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions.

Participants should bring their own:

• Pillows, cushions, bolsters, blankets, whatever you need to make your space comfortable and cozy (we’ll be sitting on the floor). There will also be studio props available for your use. If anyone cannot sit on the floor for extended periods, please let me know and we can have an area set up with a table and chairs.
